Recently, JST 13 inch External S seal has successfully passed the PR2 test at P-U (-20 deg F - 250 degrees F), 10000PSI nitrogen high pressure as per API 6A 21st Edition Annex F Section F.2.14: Design Verification for PR2F Group 5 Mandrel-type hangers,

Table F.17 Sections: Pressure from below seals and pressure from above annulus seals. Test as specified in F.1.11

S Seal is used for many oil and gas equipment, including:

  • Wellhead pack off / Tubing hanger
  • Downhole tools
  • Valves and high-pressure pipelines


S seal is a preferred design based on below characteristic:

  • Easy to installation
  • Attack by oilfield media where an O ring cannot survive the maintenance-free life cycle of the equipment
  • Ability to work efficiently with large clearances
  • Integral anti-extrusion spring in S seal eliminates the risk of displacement or damage of these elements during assembly.
  • High groove filling enhances RGD/ED resistance
  • Extreme of pressure/temperature
