The seals made from carbon graphite materials have the common advantages of both metal and non-metallic materials. Its material characteristics includes excellent self lubrication, chemical stability, high thermal conductivity, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, high wear resistance, low expansion and easy maching. These characteristics of carbon graphite are necessary for pure water hydraulic sealing materials. In addition, carbon graphite seals are also widely used in the oil and gas industry, such as the API 6A valve stem packing products, teflon valve stem packing, valve seat seals (face seals), chevron sets, spring loaded seal, vee-packing seals, etc.

Performance analysis of carbon graphite seals:


1. Thermal performance: carbon graphite materials have high thermal conductivity and low expansion. Its thermal conductivity is second only to aluminum and copper, and it is the only non-metallic materials with high thermal conductivity. The utility model can effectively keep the sealing surface in the shape and avoid the medium leakage problem caused by thermal deformation.


2. Chemical property: carbon graphite material is inert material, with chemical property temperature and non-toxic. In the air, it has strong chemical stability at 400 ℃ and good corrosion resistance;


3. Mechanical property: carbon graphite materials are brittle materials with high compressive strength, low tensile strength and shear strength, and poor impact resistance, but they can be processed into any complex shape with good machinability.


4. Water solubility and lubricity: carbon graphite materials have small friction coefficient and excellent self-lubricating performance. Graphite lubricators are better with other media. Graphite can play a better role in lubricity when there is steam and air. Because water and air exist on the working surface of graphite, which absorbs water and gas molecules, increases the distance between the cleavage surfaces that slide each other, and weakens the binding force between them.


In addition, the graphite material has another characteristic. It has strong adhesion with most metal materials, so it is easy for graphite to form a layer of graphite film on the friction pair of counter abrasive metal materials; As a result, the friction between graphite and graphite is formed, which greatly reduces the friction factors and abrasive wear.
