Packer elements refers to a downhole tool seal connected to the downhole string and used to seal the annular space between tubing and oil and gas well casing or open hole wellbore.

In oil production engineering, the packer is used for layering, and an oil production channel is designed on the packer. When setting, the piston sleeve goes up and the oil production channel is opened; After setting, the upper pressure acts on the balance piston and pushes the rubber cylinder upward to prevent the unsealing pin from shear force; When unsealing, the unsealing pin is cut off by the friction between the rubber cylinder and the casing, the piston sleeve goes down, and the oil production channel is closed.

For example, the outer casing packer used in the cementing process is used to seal the annulus between the outer casing and the wellbore to form a permanent bridge plug, so as to prevent the formation oil, gas and water channeling due to the weight loss of cement solidification in the cementing process.

Advantage:

The water plugging construction process of oil well packer is reduced, the operation without well killing and blowout can be conveniently realized, and the high pressure can be borne in both directions with long service life. The cup packer commonly used in oil field is self sealing. The outer diameter of the leather cup is larger than the inner diameter of the casing. The packer is sealed by the interference fit between the leather cup and the casing. When running down the well, the resistance is large, and the leather cup is easy to be worn and scratched, thus losing the tightness. With the in-depth understanding of the oil layer, it is imperative to tap the potential of thick oil layer. At the same time, it also puts forward higher requirements for downhole packer.
